🛤️ Pathways after school ✔ Checked October 2026

❓ What is a supported internship?

A supported internship is a study programme for young people with an EHCP who want to move into paid work. Most of the time is spent in a real workplace, with support from a job coach.

📋 What it involves

💷 Is it paid?

Supported internships are usually unpaid, because they are a study programme. The aim is a paid job at the end, with the same employer or somewhere else. Access to Work can help with support costs once you're in work.

👥 Who are they for?

🔎 How to find one

Talk about it at your EHCP annual review, and ask your school, college or local council. See TAGS IAG's supported internships page for local providers.
